Die motherfucker, die!!
Hello all on DDM! Been a long time lurker and an even longer-time follower of the EDM scene here in Dallas! I soon hope to launch a series of EDM parties of my own here in DFW with a focus on house music; I have some good ideas in the works and some great artists I's like to bring to Dallas! I'm here to build relationships and to begin getting a little deeper into the scene here in Dallas. I look forward to meeting many of you over the coming months and I'm looking forward to learning from the knowledge and experiences all of you share here on DDM!
I noticed house music has become the play-it-safe music genre for people in Dallas, well maybe not as much as it used to. My adviced is to play any type of EDM that sounds good to your ears. Too much of one type of thing can be boring. You don't want to be orthodox about music. Take chances.
Cock Puncher - thanks for the warm welcome!
SPW - I appreciate the honest response. Though I am a "house" guy, I don't always want to bring (or play, when I DJ), the "pop" stuff that seems to be so common in today's "house" music. To be totally honest, I'm getting a bit confused by the recent acts that are being brought to Dallas... I'm sure they are great in their own way, but a lot of these acts seem to be reflective of the moment, and possibly just an attempt to capitalize on the explosive growth of the "EDM" scene. Please send me a message - I'd enjoy talking more and I really appreciate any advice you may have!
Right, Dallas is very trend centric. At one time house was a play it safe success formula but now its more of the commercial sound. Promoters are thinking about pushing bottles and drawing in the large crowed.
