glad i didnt go.
So, Rob Base & co were nice. Kept the crowd hyped up. I forget the name of the guy with the awesome voice, but he was dope. Plus, hearing them do Joy and Pain live was cool. Um, digital underground? Shoulda stayed there. The front man dude w/ the big nose wasn't even there! They didn't seem to know what was going on, and managed to mess up The Humpty Dance. Maybe there were sound issues and that's why they were off. Their DJ, I forgot his name, showed off some turntablism skillz. Then after they were done, and ample time had passed, ppl started leaving because there were rumors circulating that they weren't goin to show. After being told by 7 different ppl that C&C was in fact at the venue, getting ready to go on, going to be on in 5 minutes, 5 minutes away from the venue, etc, their performance starts like an hour after D.U. Hooray! What was left of the crowd seemed impartial to the House beats that started out of nowhere. Me, Rich, Rocky, Woody, and maybe 4 other ppl were frantically jackin our bodies. People were looking at us like we were nuts. Apparently young emo-dressed kids don't know how to get down. All in all, fun night! Tix were only 10 bucks.
glad i didnt go.

"When I listen to records from back in the day, they can't compare to today's music. That raw feeling can't be heard in our current environment where everything seems to over rely on digital production." - Oliver Bondzio
I knew it wouldn't be what it should have been.
1) Only one original guy is left from C&C Music Factory, and he does more latin house music production than anything.
2) Sir Nose is no longer with D.U. and most of the original guys are not either.
3) All print ads I saw said DJ EZ Rock and 'Ron' Base.
Yeah... Glad I didn't second-guess my original thoughts.

The event was not coordinated or run smoothly, but for those of us geeks in love with cheesy nineties acts, it was fun! Really, the last half was the best
Dude, DU did suck, but seeing Freedom Williams in person more than blew me away. That fool was still jumpin around like he was in those videos back around 1991. To hear him say "Aight now we gonna do some house music", then get on top of the wall of speakers and start flowin to a deep house beat was all I needed. Rob Base and his accomplice were an awesome start to get the crowd hype.
