Is it me (loaded question) or does anyone else not like the fact that you can't sort by file location in ITunes?

Pisses me off. I've got 6,059 songs that I need to sort through to remove duplicates... and if I just knew where each one was without having to click 'info' it would go SOOOO much faster.

sounds like you've made a mess with unorganization.

there are a couple of ways to do it. there's a program called Clean Sweep that will check your whole computer for dupes.

or you can trash your library file and then select all 6000+ songs and drag them over the iTunes icon for a rebuild... depending on how you have your settings (itunes auto organize or not- it's up to you)

there are plenty of programs and whatnots to help you remove duplicate files off your mac.

Itunes is a great store, but is a ponderously shitty software package. Using it with an Ipod is dildos. I'm so glad I have a Cowon that I can open up with Explorer and just copy, rename and edit files over into with now. So much less of a hassle. I just let Itunes do it's thing and copy my stuff over into my main music file and organize how I want it when I buy it.

I really hate how iTunes manages to fuck up my library every few months. I've got 50 gigs of mp3s across two drives and three partitions, so it's a bitch to get them all loaded back in.

It's just clunky how you have to tell it to synch everything vs. just opening it up as an extra drive in Explorer and loading and organizing the tracks as you see fit. With my Cowon I can even create extra folders on my player and organize even further. You just can't do that with an Ipod, or at least a Nano. Sorry, I just think Ipods are overhyped pieces of shit. Horrible, horrible sound quality, clunky interface and they're way over priced. I paid 50 dollars more including shipping for what I have now and it has twice the storage, the best sound quality on the market (Cowon's are known for their vast array of eq's - My player even has surround sound) and supports pretty much every type of music and video format.

Worth every penny. The price has gone up since I got mine. I paid close to an even 200 for mine.

all of them differ in the way that they sync, but wouldnt folders just be like playlists. all you do is tick a box and sync. on my shuffle i just drag and drop.

and surround sound on headphones is kinda useless.

i never really had any sound quality issues with mine. although i havent used what you have so i dont really have anything to compare it too other than walkman

I have a 500g drive that is almost full. A lot of the stuff has duplicates because of compilations, improperly labeled stuff people have given me, etc...

ITunes TELLS me WHAT the dupes are. But if I've got 'And My Beat Goes Boom' by Egyptian Lover twice, it would be nice to be able to look right there to decide if I want the version that's with the album or the version that came on a hip hop compilation. Make sense?

Just frustrating. I know WHAT they are... I just want an easier way to see WHERE they are.

It's a big difference in sound quality. Mine makes shitty ear buds bump and brings out the best of any car system. The surround is for video. If your hdtv has a usb port you can plug it straight into there and play videos or music off of it.

wouldnt you still need 5 speakers and a sub for the most basic surround sound?

Well yeah, you'd need a surround sound to use it.

I don't like the fact that I have to use itunes to transfer music to my iphone. I just want to drag and drop dammit. Ive got close to 2tb of data and its all organized exactly how i want it by folder. Just let me open explorer and put my shit where i want it!

i hate this goddamned phone. the ONLY thing i like about it is the touch pad is smoother than on any other device I've seen. pretty much flawless. Everything else about it blows

I dunno man... my iPod works just fine for listening to music (nano)

Granted it cant do a million and one things... but my uses as a nano dont get any more simple than plug in, sync, unplug, play music.

I'll vouche for the sound quality that comes from the player that Miles has. I've had numerous ipods and never thought much about it, but once I listened to his, its easy to hear the difference.
