    What can a company legally do if one walks out before his 2 week notice is complete?

    This place can seriously kiss my ass, but I really need my last check to be on time. I've heard they can withhold compensation for remaining vacation, but that seems to be a small price to pay for my sanity. School meh rave board.

    I always thought the 2 weeks is more of a courtesy thing, but I could very easily be wrong.

    If you quit the company legally has one week to give you your check. If they fire you then they legally have to have the check for you that day.

    texas is an at will state.... You can quit whenever you want, you can get fired whenever they feel. As far as pay goes, they cannot withhold your money. Typically your next check would be available at time of next pay roll. If they fire you, they have 72 hrs to pay you. So maybe do something to get you fired? I dunno but Texas is at will...... But if you have vacation time accrued that can be an issue. Most likely you get what, 12 days vacation? So that means you have six left. Make the decision on what's important to you. . . .

    This shit sucks. My grandma died over the weekend, and the funeral is Weds. I rather just pack up my shit and drive home for good than spend $375 on a last minute flight, only to come back to work at this shit hole for 5 more days.

    I don't care about references, I already accepted a new job.
